Above: I stand in the floor to ceiling window and look down at my feet. The tiny nail on my pinky toe is the same size as the cars moving slowly on the busy streets below. Out there lies a multi level concrete, stone, and steel world that few people ever see and enjoy. Most of the large residential buildings are forty to eighty stories high and house thousands of people. Most come with underground gymnasiums, swimming pools clothed in canopies of glass, humongous parking garages, busy post office mailrooms, business centers, sales and leasing offices, and fully stocked grocery stores.

Above: Our road trip is winding down now. In Chicago I look out the forty-sixth floor window of our friends Max and Helen's skyscraper apartment. The incredible skyline hosts thousands of people in hundreds of condos and apartments as far out as I can see.
