This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas

Fashion Show Mall Las Vegas is a beautiful, modern and bright indoor mall and is one of the nations largest shopping centers with nearly two million square feet of shopping. We never visit Vegas for more than a week and miss this place. There are seven flagship department stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillard's, Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdale's Home along with over 250 other retailers and restaurants.

The Cloud at the Fashion Show Mall on the Strip in Las Vegas does offer some shade but more than anything it is just cool. Local celebrities have been spotted at Fashion Show Mall during the slower weekday evening hours.

Vegas shopping in the Fashion Mall across from Wynn Casino is super fun and is the largest mall on the Strip. I visit Fashion Mall often when Vanaboding through Nevada and Vegas. Some say it's 2 million square feet. I don't know what that means as I have nothing to compare it to. But there are 350 stores and restaurants in the mall. I discover a few more each time I go. Plan to spend an afternoon there. But also plan to be a bit confused the first time. There are three levels and they do not intersect.

The extremely noticeable hovering spaceship-like structure in front of the mall is called 'The Cloud'. It is 128 feet above the sidewalk plaza and is 480 feet long. It provides shade during the day and acts as an advertising screen at night with four movable LED plasma screens that broadcast 3-dimensional video of mall events and advertising. As well, there is ongoing music 24/7 to get you excited about being there or just to hang out and rest if your tired feet need a break.

Under The Cloud and plasma screens amongst the groovin music is the sidewalk plaza which is directly on the Strip. This is a very popular place to people watch as well as shop and eat. There are outdoor kiosks, restaurants, a coffee shop, specialty stores, and plenty of outdoor seating take in the oversized beauty of Las Vegas. The Wynn Hotel, Palazzo, Venetian Hotel, and T.I. are all across the street from Fashion Show Mall with easy access to and from with over-the-road pedestrian walkways.

The mall really gets crowded during the weekends and holidays. During the off-season and week days getting around the Fashion Show Mall can be quick and manageable. And, sometimes the evenings can be pretty dead considering this is a mall right on the Las Vegas Strip, the hottest vacation spot in the world. But that is great for the locals and local celebrity performers who can shop without too much hassle.

Las Vegas malls have so many one-of-a-kind shops that you can find something for a special occasion, wall decoration or as an elaborate but subtle Las Vegas souvenir.

Of course there are fashion shows at the Fashion Show Mall. An event area named the Great Hall is in a wide area of the mall between specialty stores that hosts fashion shows every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on the 80-foot fashion runway. Try the runway for yourself when it is not being used for a show. I've seen many groups and couples get their pictures and videos taken of themselves on the cat walk doing their best model's walk. Are you brave enough to walk the walk in front of mall goers?

Inside Fashion Show Mall you will find lots of people shopping in their favorite stores as this picture in Las Vegas shows.

A fortune was spent on creating Fashion Show Mall. Look up outside and you will see a steel structure hovering 130 feet above your head. It's known as the Cloud. It was designed to shelter you against the desert elements in Vegas, heat and sun, cold and wind. Embedded in the canopy are 4 moveable plasma screens. Inside the mall, there are more LED screens showing awesome footage of events in the Fashion Show Mall. At other times I have seen astonishing commercials playing out in a sort of wrap-around visual experience.

Some of the high-end and mid-level restaurants include Café Ba Ba Reba, California Pizza Kitchen, Maggiano's Little Italy, RA Sushi, The Capital Grille, Nordstrom's Marketplace Café, and Neiman Marcus' Mariposa and NM Café. The Food Court is on the third level on the east end of the mall, which overlooks the Las Vegas Strip and the Wynn Hotel. You can also enter the food court from the stairway outside to the outdoor balcony behind The Cloud or take the outside elevator or escalator.

The mall services and amenities include an ATM, car wash, coat and package check, business services, postage service, stroller and wheelchair rental, valet parking, taxi service, gift cards, and local attraction ticket sales and information. Parking is not a problem as there is plenty of underground and garage parking so you can shop all day at the Fashion Show Mall.
