This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips. Free Las Vegas ShowFree Las Vegas show is everywhere if you know what to look for, and where to look. You can still get good deals in Vegas and free shows can keep you and your family occupied for a long time. You'll find shows in and around the casinos on the Strip. When you want a party atmosphere check out the Carnivale Masquerade Show at the Rio. It's a free Las Vegas show that runs every hour from 3 pm to 9:30 pm nightly. The best view is from the second floor balcony because floats run around the casino suspended from the ceiling. Dancers throw beads from the floats just like they do at Mardi Gras. You can even pay and ride in a float yourself and throw beads to the audience. Insider Secret - To see free shows in Vegas expect to walk a lot. Bring good shoes, a sun hat and a water bottle.
Kid-friendly shows can be found at Circus Circus every half hour, from 11 am to midnight. In the Carnival Midway, acrobats from around the world perform their trapeze, juggling and death defying stunts every day for free. If you're walking through the Imperial Palace and you see one of the dealers break out in song that's because they are dealertainers, card dealers who entertain and impersonate their favorite star like Madonna, Michael Jackson or Dolly Parton. No charge here. While you are shopping at the Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood you may catch a free show from a variety of performers outside of the V Theater. There are quite a few outdoor attractions on the Strip that are fun and you won't have to spend a dime. The Sirens of TI at Treasure Island are a group of beautiful women who fight off a band of pirates aboard a life-size schooner. Expect pyrotechnics, dancing, singing and some swordplay. Of course, the fountains at Bellagio attract huge crowds every 15 minutes. It's great to watch from Mon Ami Gabi, the outdoor café located across the street at the Paris. In the main lobby of the Venetian you need to look up and see the beautifully detailed, hand-painted frescos and gilded ceiling. The statues at Caesar's Palace will speak to you about their trials and tribulations of being a Roman. It's a good time to rest your feet.
The cost - free. That's right, soothing aquarium entertainment for nothing. There is seating around the aquarium as well as from the Mermaid Restaurant and Lounge - sip and stare, sip and stare. The Silverton Hotel Aquarium is an octagonal shape where you can walk all the way around it and check out every nook and cranny. There are 5,000 exotic fish as well as vibrant coral. There are three species of sharks and three species of stingrays. This aquarium is part of a $150 million casino expansion. If you find yourself downtown, you'll see the lights and sounds of the FREE "Fremont Street" experience every hour from 8 pm to midnight. It's the largest big screen in the world with over 12 million lights and 550,000 watts of sound. The Viva Vision canopy above the street offers different themes from tribute to Queen, the Rat Pack or images of flight. A terrific free Las Vegas show.
