Before creating the Vanabode travel style I ran a motorcoach website.
This page is one of many bus articles I wrote
for coach buyers before closing that website.

MCI Prevost Van
Hool Eagle Bluebird GMC Neoplan Dina Setra Gillig Irizar
Dina Bus for Sale Model Chart
Dina Bus Viaggio all Years
Advantages - very cheap to buy, equipped with good trans
and engine, a truly modern bus, at a purchase price far below most buses
in the same age group.
Disadvantages - few dealers
Notes - MCI bought Dina in 1994, Brazilian made originally,
now made in Mexico, company has experienced serious financial trouble
a few times, cheapest 43 footers on the market, Early models had the 11.1
series 60 with 365 HP that provided plenty of power. Later models had
the 12.7 engine with more power which got worse fuel economy. The 60 series
B500 combination in the Dina will not only out-perform the 6V92/8N92,
but also has a service life at more than 300% of the older 2 cycle engines.
Having the same DNA as the Eagle, the Dina is based on the same IFS/torsu-lastic
set-up. Nothing rides like an Eagle, but the Dina comes close. It also
has the added benefit of an air-bag tag-axle.
Conversion Issues - MCI sells the parts, higher floors
account for less headroom than tour buses of other brands but the ceiling
height is about the same or better than most standard inter-city buses
at 77". I do not recommend for typical conversions unless very mechanically
inclined. If you are mechanically inclined however this could give you
the ultimate bus for the money.
